THE UNIVERSITY OF GHENT HAS A HEART FOR SPORTS
The University of Ghent is greatly interested in sports. For some decades now, the various departments have been gaining experience in movement, sports, rehabilitation and kinesitherapy, through experimental studies in close co-operation with the world of sports. Several sports actors are now using the sports scientific framework of the University of Ghent in preparation of top-class sports competitions. For instance, a team of movement analysists of the Movement and Sports Sciences department assisted highjumper Tia Hellebaut in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. With result: Hellebaut won Olympic gold!
As the Alma Mater of IOC Chairman Dr. Jacques Rogge, the University of Ghent is very pleased to make its know-how available to federations, coaches and athletes in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics in London!
